Subject: Terminal Cursor (Up, Down)

If I use Putty to connect to my Telnet Session I can use the cursor to navigate (Up , Down etc) See below

However when I use the terminal control I can connect fine, but I can't see or move the cursor as shown. What am I missing? ( See below, note that I'm hilighting the text with the mouse to see if I can get it to react but it doesn't do anything)
